#FindMyMTP across any location
The lockdown made access to contraception difficult. The MTP database was helpful in finding me the nearest healthcare provider who counselled me and supported me in this process to avoid an unwanted pregnancy. - Meena Kumari (Name Changed)

A 15-year-old adolescent girl lost her life due to complications from pregnancy in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh on 7th January, 2021. She was sexually assaulted in June last year; however, the girl could not share the trauma with her parents and they came to know only when her pregnancy was visible. Unfortunately, that was beyond 20 weeks and she was denied abortion when they reached out to the district authorities as doctors said the pregnancy was advanced and a police case was on.
We are grateful for your assistance and are glad to report that with your continuous and unwavering support, our petition to 'allow survivors of sexual abuse to terminate pregnancy without any upper gestational limit' that was launched three weeks ago has been able to gain momentum. Since its launch, the petition has received 3,523 signatures and we need 1,477 more supporters to achieve our initial goal of 5,000. We plan to further increase the goal once we pass 5,000 signatures.
We are counting on your support and urge you to share the petition widely in your network. Join us in our fight to avoid such preventable loss of life!

A report on Medical Boards for Access to Abortion Untenable: Evidence from the Ground
The Centre for Justice, Law and Society (CJLS), Jindal Global Law School undertook a comprehensive empirical study of the district-wise availability of specialist doctors (obstetrician/ gynecologists, pediatricians and radiologists) across all Indian states and union territories. This study covered the time period from 2015 to 2019 and found that there is an abysmal shortage of doctors and healthcare facilities in India. The study relied on data from the National Family Health Survey and Rural Health Survey, looking largely at secondary health centres due to the absence of data on primary health centres (PHCs).
Name changed - Centre for Health Law, Ethics and Technology (CHLET) is now Centre for Justice, Law and Society (CJLS)
The Centre for Health Law, Ethics and Technology (CHLET) recently transitioned to the Centre for Justice, Law and Society (CJLS), Jindal Global Law School. They began as a research centre in 2009, the first-of-its-kind with a focus on health law and policy. CJLS will continue to work on issues of judicial diversity, critical pedagogy, critical legal theory, gender, sexuality, constitutional law, legal education and public health law, caste and indigeneity, and social movements and the law.
