CELEBRATING
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SAFE ABORTION
Using social media as a tool to garner engagement and get conversations started, we designed our campaign for International Day of Safe Abortion - PROtect Choice.
We wanted the content to be educational yet catchy so that it could resonate with the youth of today. This translated into two of our content series, Little Miss fights the barriers against abortions and #ChupKar.
Both touched upon the various difficulties a pregnant person faces while accessing abortions, such as lack of information and societal prejudice. We spread information about why access to safe abortion is an essential healthcare service.
We also marked World Sexual Health Day and World Contraception Day, through our social content. By mixing impactful messaging with eye-catching visuals, we highlighted the importance of sexual well-being and aimed at fostering a change in people's outlook.

A MOMENT OF TRIUMPH
India's unprecedented judgement for inclusive abortions!
On ISAD, the Supreme Court passed a landmark judgment, declaring that unmarried women are also legally entitled to safe abortions till 20-24 weeks of pregnancy. This decision recognises a person's right to bodily and reproductive decisional autonomy.
What stands out in this judgement is the fact that the arguments given by Justice Chandrachud were rights-based first and then about the healthcare aspect around it, something that hasn't been seen before.
This is a historic step in the direction of making abortions inclusive and sets a precedent for the future. What a huge victory for all the citizens of this nation.

Normalising abortion in the media
The portrayal of positive sentiments towards abortions and the normalisation of abortion rights in the media is essential to educate the public about the topic.
The Pratigya Campaign organised a Media Sensitisation Workshop at the Press Club of India bringing together experts on gender, law, and digital media. This led to an enriching discourse, comprising different perspectives, anecdotes, and questions. The workshop provided an opportunity to further the understanding of sexual and reproductive rights and safe abortion discourse in the Indian media.

The YP Foundation initiated a holistic conversation around safe abortions on the occasion of #InternationalSafeAbortionDay. Their Twitter chat answered people's questions and busted myths to carve out a path to normalise abortions.
